ACT ONE

OPEN ON an empty black screen. A greenish blue candle like flame bursts from the bottom center of the screen. The FLAME moves like Japanese calligraphy paintings, depicting the outline of a planet.

Cyrus (VO)
(Echoing)
Approximately two-thousand years ago, there once existed a world called Earth…

The FLAME’S shape changes again, depicting soldiers fighting, planets dying, animals being slaughtered and women being torn of their clothing, screaming.

It was a world plagued by sin and dying from war.

The FLAME’S again change shape, depicting the shape of 9 “heroes” standing over a cliff.

But there was a group of heroes, who vowed to keep this dying world alive for as long as they stood.

The FLAME changes, depicting utter chaos and again changes, depicting a single person looking up at the sky as a large father figure face takes shape.

Then the time came, when they could no longer keep the dying world alive. But it was in the world’s final hours that the savior, Psyro Kameato proved mankind worthy of returning to the paradise that is our home, Eden.

The FLAME begins to swirl around and form a sphere.

With Psyro’s command as appointed by God, the very essence of the Earth rose up from the ground, revealing the beautiful world it blanketed. The essence came together before the savior, forming a single sphere. Then God spoke, to the savior.
“This is the Seal of All Sin. You are to forever guard and protect it, for if the seal were ever to be broken, then the world would return to the land of sin that once plagued it.”

The FLAME returns to its original candle like state.

And that is why we’re here…

The FLAME fades away – Black screen again.

(Aggravatingly)
Gabriel? GABRIEL! Gabriel Kameato are you listening?!

Int. Shrine room
REVEAL Gabriel sitting at a desk with his face buried in his arms

Gabriel
(muffled grunt)
Yeah? What?

Cyrus slaps Gabriel across the head; Gabriel yelps a gasp of pain.

POV – behind Gabriel

Cyrus stands in front of Gabriel, folding his arms as Gabriel sits up while rubbing the back of his head.

Cyrus
Pay Attention Gabriel! This information is important!

Gabriel
Pretty basic information…

WIDEN on front of Gabriel.

Cyrus SLAMS his hands down against the top of Gabriel’s desk.

Cyrus
That doesn’t matter! You STILL have to be aware of it!

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s mouth.

Gabriel
Listen gramps, I don’t care. I got plans so I don’t have time for this.

Cyrus (VO)
Well TOO BAD, this is a major part of our heritage and it’s more important than whatever plans you may have!

Gabriel (OS)
(low growl)
Yeah, I bet you fed “dad” the same speech too didn’t you?

Cyrus (OS)
(low growl)

CLOSE ON Cyrus’s gripping right fist.

Int. hallway – facing shrine room door

Yelling between Gabriel and Cyrus can be heard all around the house from the shine room.

Gabriel slams the door open, storming through the hall (OS) with anger in his face.

Int. family room

REVEAL Mia, Andrea and Derdekea sitting in the room, turn their heads quickly (facing the screen) at the sound of the slamming door.

Int. hallway

Cyrus storms out, stopping outside the family room doorframe, swings his left arm forward, and points (OS) at Gabriel.

Cyrus
(heavy anger)
GABRIEL! AS YOUR GRANDFATHER I ORDER YOU TO--

Gabriel (OS)
(heavier anger)
--SCREW OFF!!!
(OS Front door is furiously opened and slammed shut)

Cyrus
(low growl)

Lowers his left hand as it clutches into a fist.

Int. Family room

Derdekea sitting on the floor with her eyes closed, calmly stirs the silver pot sitting on a turned on hotplate in front of her, completely unfazed by the event that just that just took place.

Derdekea
(calmly)
You’re going to make an atheist out of that boy if you keep pressuring him like this.

CLOSE ON Andrea’s shaken face turn to the screen.

Andrea
Oh mom…

CUT TO: Derdekea again.

She holds the spoon she was using to stir up to her mouth and samples the soup. She tilts her head back a bit and smiles, savoring the soup’s flavor.

POV – Derdekea – the hot pot of soup

Derdekea (OS)
Gabriel is going to love this when he gets back.

CUT TO:

Ext. – city streets – day – raining heavily

PAN on Gabriel as he walks down the sidewalk with his head down, hands in his pockets with the rain pouring down on him. Gabriel stops and lifts his head slowly.

POV – behind Gabriel – cemetery

Gabriel sees the cemetery across the corner of the street with a single shadowed out person standing in front of possibly a gravestone at the top of a small hill. A slightly futuristic car drives by and Gabriel starts walking again.

Ext. cemetery – day – raining heavily

POV – Aaliyah – her parent’s gravestones

WIDEN on Aaliyah standing in front of two gravestones, wearing a black raincoat with its hood over her head. Gabriel walks up from behind and stands beside her.

Gabriel
(mournfully)
Hey,

Aaliyah
(quietly)
Hey.

The two stand before the gravestones for a moment mourning. Aaliyah turns to the left and walks (OS), Gabriel quietly follows.

Int. Aaliyah’s ransacked apartment – main room – day

CLOSE ON Aaliyah’s face as she tilts her head back with her eyes closed, drinking a can of pop. Leans her head forward, lowering the can and opening her eyes, looking to her left.

Aaliyah
So, you’re really going to run away from home huh?

WIDEN to REVEAL Gabriel sitting on three-stacked mattresses, holding a can of pop while Aaliyah sits at the corner of the mattresses in the background. Gabriel nods.

Gabriel
Yeah, we haven’t even started our last year of high school and gramps is already preparing to draft me with the responsibly of guarding that seal the moment I turn 18.

Gabriel crushes the empty can; tossing it aside as he lies back against the mattress with his hands behind his head.

So what’s the point in fighting? Might as well end it the easy way.

Aaliyah (OS)
Didn’t your father also runaway from home the same day he was told he’d be guarding the seal?

Gabriel turns to his side (facing the screen) with his back facing Aaliyah.

Gabriel
(low tone)
I told you to never mention that worthless bastard…

Aaliyah (OS)
Sorry Gabe,

WIDEN to Aaliyah as she gets off the mattresses and walks over to the broken television. She throws her can in the trashcan beside the television and lowers her head while facing a large broken window and the wall full of rips in the wallpaper.

But seriously, you still have a family. It might be a broken family…but it’s a family nonetheless.

CLOSE ON Aaliyah’s face as she turns to look over at Gabriel.

Don’t take that for granted.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s face as his eyes narrow in response to Aaliyah’s words.

(OS)
I’m still a little thirsty, want anything?

Gabriel
Sure…

Int. Aaliyah’s kitchen

Aaliyah walks into the muggy looking kitchen and inspects the fridge. She lowers her head and closes her eyes.

Aaliyah
(sighs)
Looks like we’re having water, Gabe.

Aaliyah closes the fridge door and goes in front of the sink, she reaches up into the cupboards and pulls out two glasses and turns on the sink fossett. She puts a glass under the water and looks over a bit as the water fills the glass, her eyes suddenly widen.

Int. Aaliyah’s main room

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s closed eyes as he hears glass smash. Gabriel’s eyes quickly open.

Int. Aaliyah’s kitchen

POV – behind Gabriel

Gabriel hurries to the entrance of the kitchen and sees Aaliyah to her knees on the floor with her hands over her face, crying heavily. Gabriel rushes over to Aaliyah.

CLOSE ON Gabriel as he looks ahead on the counter.

POV – Gabriel – a small portrait of a much younger and happier Aaliyah with her parents in a rotating picture frame on the counter.

Gabriel’s eyes narrow and he turns flicks the frame so the picture faces the wall.

CLOSE ON Aaliyah as Gabriel kneels down behind her and cradles her in his arms as she continues to cry.

Gabriel
(comfortingly)
Come on Aaliyah…let’s get out of here.

Gabriel helps Aaliyah get onto her feet slowly.

The memories here are too much to bare at moment…

Aaliyah looks at Gabriel and nods slowly.

Aaliyah
(sobbing)
Yeah…

Ext. city streets – rain stops – day

CLOSE ON a puddle on the sidewalk as it reflects the grey cloud filled sky and then Gabriel’s foot steps into the puddle, breaking the reflection as he continues to walk (OS).

WIDEN ON Gabriel and Aaliyah walking down the sidewalk together.

Gabriel
Usual hangout, Aaliyah?

Aaliyah nods quietly in agreement.

Aaliyah
Yeah…

Ext. rundown bakery – day

CUT TO: bakery roof

Gabriel and Aaliyah sit over the top of the rundown and deserted bakery, Gabriel leans back a bit, eating from a box of stale doughnuts while Aaliyah simply stares off, looking really dazed.

Gabriel
Hey, when you going to collect that inheritance your folks left for you?

Aaliyah
(dazed)
Not sure, whatever’s left in the apartment is mine now. So I don’t know what else they could possibly have for me.

She reaches for the box of doughnuts, pulling a chocolate one out and eats at a faster then normal pace.

Gabriel
Still, none of this is fair – they expect me throw away my life at the age of 17 and dedicate it too a stupid jewel that’s rightfully my “father’s” responsibility?

Aaliyah
You could’ve told them my parents were murdered, I’m sure they would’ve understood.

Gabriel
No point in trying, gramps has his eyes set on shoving this responsibly down my throat no matter what.

Aaliyah
…So, your plan to run away, you going through with it?

Gabriel
I refuse to accept dad’s responsibility so what other option do I have?

Aaliyah
(striking tone)
Then I’m going with you.

Gabriel
(surprised)
Huh?! Why?

Aaliyah
The deed to the apartment is under my parent’s names. I got the apartment for the rest of the month but I know I won’t be able to keep up with the rent and any other necessities.

CLOSE ON Aaliyah’s face as she turns and looks at (the screen) Gabriel.

So I might as well keep you company, right?

Gabriel nods, finishing his doughnut.

Gabriel
Right.

Stands up and dusts himself off.

Well, lets get ready, Aaliyah.

Aaliyah nods and gets up as well.

Aaliyah
K’ Gabriel.

Gabriel jumps down on the dumpster beside the bakery and slides down onto the ground with Aaliyah following behind him. Both of them walk out of the alley and stand in front of the rundown bakery.

SFX – crackling thunder

CLOSE ON Gabriel and Aaliyah (SV) look up quickly to the sound of the thunder.

Gabriel
Sounds like more rain.

A drop of rain hits Gabriel’s forehead as it starts to pour. Aaliyah looks over at Gabriel, grinning a little.

Aaliyah
Definitely looks like more rain

SFX – loud heavy motors revving up

EXTREME CLOSE ON – Gabriel’s eyes

Gabriel’s eyes blink, quickly sharpening as he looks over to their right of the street, analyzing for the direction of the sound.

Gabriel
(low growl)
That sound, where’d it come from?

Aaliyah turns to Gabriel and begins to look around as well.

Aaliyah
(slight panic)
I think I’m starting to hear it too, Gabe.

The sound of the revving motors gets really loud and then two of gang-looking riders on dirt bikes come SWEEPING through the each side of the rundown bakery.

EXTREME CLOSE ON Gabriel’s sharpening eyes.

CUT TO: the left intersection as two more gang-looking riders drift their dirt bikes, making a right turn into the same lane Gabriel and Aaliyah are in.

CUT TO: the opposite intersection on the other side of the lane as two more riders drift into the lane.

WIDEN (OV) of Gabriel and Aaliyah as the total of 8 riders begin to come in and circle around them.

Gabriel and Aaliyah get back-to-back, as they look around at the unknown riders that circle around them. Gabriel grits his teeth together.

Gabriel
(low growl, whisper)
Those bikes…they’re fossil fueled. How’d they get vehicles that use a forbidden energy source?

CLOSE ON one of the bikes as they stop, the gang-looking riders parking their bikes on their kickstands.

CLOSE ON Aaliyah, her eyes suddenly widening. She points out ahead at the riders in front of her, all dressed in the same leather biker outfits.

Aaliyah
(heavier panic)
IT’S THEM! THEY WERE THE ONES WHO MURDERED MY PARENTS!!!

CLOSE ON Gabriel as he turns his head over to look down at Aaliyah.

Gabriel
(heavy shock)
WHAT?!

END OF ACT ONE

ACT TWO

Ext. rundown factor – raining – day

Aaliyah
(shaking)
It was them…I remember; I could never forget that day…

FLASHBACK

Int. Aaliyah’s apartment hallway

PAN on Aaliyah in her school uniform walking down the hallway with a rejoicing smile on her face.

Aaliyah (VO)
I was returning from our last day of school before summer vacation. I was in a hurry because I wanted to get out of that ugly uniform my parents thought I looked so cute in.

Aaliyah stops at her apartment door and takes her bag off in front of her, digging inside it for her house key. As she pulls the key out she hears very loud shattering noise from inside her apartment, her eyes quickly widen and tremble. She struggles to slot the key into the lock due to her shaking hands.

My parents never, ever fought so I wasn’t used to hearing noises like that come from my own home.

SFX – very loud motors revving up from inside her apartment.

Aaliyah quickly jumps out of the way, falling to the floor as the front door gets plowed down by 3 of the same looking riders on the same dirt bikes as they ride down the hallway, hooting in a grimacing victory cheer.

And what I saw when I looked inside…I knew would forever haunt me.

Aaliyah crawls over to the busted down door slowly.

POV – inside the apartment at the doorframe – Aaliyah looks inside

Her eyes widen in terror as the camera quickly zooms into her left pupil, going into a blank black screen.

END FLASHBACK

WIDEN out from Aaliyah’s pupil as she lower her head.

Aaliyah
(weeping tone)
I especially couldn’t forget their laughter…their display of how much they enjoyed it…

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s gripping and SHAKING fist.

Gabriel (OS)
(louder growl)
Why…why did you go after family?! What did THEY do to deserve that?!

CLOSE ON one of the riders.

Rider#1
They killed two of our own.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s glaring face.

Gabriel
Hmm?!

Aaliyah (OS)
(soft and saddened)
It was an accident…

Gabriel turns and looks over at Aaliyah in slight confusion.

Aaliyah
(soft and saddened)
A couple weeks before the murder, my parents got into a car accident… the two they crashed into were on dirt bikes, crossing a red at an intersection. Dad pushed on the breaks but couldn’t stop in time…my parents and the bikers were hospitalized. The bikers never made it…my parent’s felt so guilty… it didn’t kick in until I saw that picture of them; that the last words they said to be before they died made sense…”I’m sorry.”

Aaliyah falls to her knees, starting to cry very heavily again.

Rider#1
Yeah, and now we’re going to finish the job.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s clinching teeth.

Gabriel
(growling heavily)
WHY?! Aaliyah wasn’t even part of the incident! Only two of your people were killed! Her parents were even sorry for what happened!!!

Rider#1
That doesn’t matter. Hurt even one member of our family, and we’ll kill all of yours.

Gabriel
(growling EXTREMELY hard)
BUT THAT’S NOT FAIR!

Rider#1
Well TOO BAD! That’s the golden rule of the oath we took and it’s more important to us then what you consider fair-

Suddenly Gabriel throws a punch and it SLAMS right into the Rider#1’s face, sending him FLYING off his bike and SMASHING through the bakery’s display window.

CLOSE ON Rider#1 as he sits up, rubbing the blood off his mouth, snarling.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s body (SV) as he slides off his jacket, letting it fall onto the ground.

Gabriel (OS)
I’ve had enough of this crap,

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s hands as he pulls a pair of specialized fighting gloves out of his pockets, strapping them firmly on to each hand.

Gabriel (OS)
I’ve had enough of people being forced into situations that rightfully aren’t their own!

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s gripping into fists, pounding each into the other’s palm.

Gabriel (OS)
Just being told this is the way it is and they got no other choice but to follow it!

WIDEN on Gabriel standing in fighting position, his fists held out, his face stern and ready for battle. The rain stops.

Gabriel
So, if anyone’s going to killer her, they’re going to have to get through me first.

Rider#1 quickly gets up and rushes to his fallen bike. He gets back on and starts up the bike, raising his left arm up.

Rider#1
(angered)
Ok, you heard him guys, lets take care of them then!

All of the riders cheer out an aggressive battle cry, revving their bikes again beginning to drive in circles around Gabriel and Aaliyah.

SHAKING CLOSE ON Gabriel as he leans down at Aaliyah and pulls her back on her feet.
Gabriel

Come on, Aaliyah! Stay close.

CLOSE ON both of them back-to-back, moving together in a much slower circle. They both then stop, watching the fast moving bikes around them.

CLOSE ON Gabriel looking over his shoulder at Aaliyah.

Think you’re prepared to fight, partner?

CLOSE ON Aaliyah as she nods without a pause.

POV – Gabriel – Bikers riding past his rang of vision from right-to-left

CLOSE ON (SV) Gabriel’s face.

Hmm, this is easy enough. Aaliyah, on my mark…NOW!

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s and Aaliyah feet (up to the knee) as they quickly dash in opposite directions (OS).

PAN Gabriel charges forward (across the screen – left), yelling out with his fist held back.

Gabriel and throws his fists out and RAMS it hard into the side of Rider#2’s head, sending them flying off into the bakery, rolling into a counter. The other riders begin to  trip over Rider#2’s fallen bike.

Aaliyah throws her fist out and RAMS it hard into the side of Rider#3’s head, sending him skidding across the street and rolling into a lamppost on the sidewalk. Bikers on that end begin to trip over Rider#3’s fallen bike.

Gabriel and Aaliyah jump with their backs to each other again, watching all of the riders tumble over each other. The two fighters slowly shift in a counter-clockwise circle.

Gabriel
They’re definitely outsiders,

Aaliyah looks over her shoulder, up at Gabriel.

Aaliyah
(rising confidence)
Yeah, they’d have to be to wanna pick a fight with the best fighters in Melodina

Gabriel grins and nods, looking back at Aaliyah.

Gabriel
Figures a fight would get you back to your normal mindset! …Aaliyah ahead of you!

Aaliyah turns to look ahead, seeing one of the riders coming at her with a steel pipe, she then gasps out shock.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s feet as he begins to shift around quickly.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s left arm wrapping around Aaliyah’s arm, forcing her to shift along with him.

DRAMATIC PAN on Gabriel’s body as it shifts around so he’s in front of the approaching rider, extending his right hand and grabbing him by the face.

Aaliyah looks ahead seeing ANOTHER rider coming right at them, spinning a long metal chain.

Aaliyah
(shock, terror)
GABRIEL!!!

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s pumped; adrenaline filled face as he yells out.

DRAMATIC PAN on Gabriel’s hand gripping the rider’s face as he uses all his strength to SWING the rider around, BASHING him into the other approaching rider, knocking him across the road. Once he finished the 360-degree turn he throws the rider he’s grabbed onto into the bakery, bashing him against the back wall.

Gabriel
(tiring out)
fewth…

CLOSE ON Gabriel and Aaliyah standing back-to-back.

Aaliyah
Gee… thanks for doing all the work…again.

Gabriel
Here, the rest are yours.

Gabriel runs (OS) into the bakery.

Aaliyah
Huh? HEY!

Int. rundown bakery

CLOSE ON fallen Rider#2, lying on the floor in front of a counter with a steel pipe in front of him. Gabriel walks past him (left-to-right). The rider slowly grips the pipe.

POV – behind Gabriel

Gabriel walks up to the rider at the back wall and picks him up by the collar of his zipped leather jacket.

CLOSE ON Gabriel and rider as Gabriel holds him up against the wall.

Gabriel
(angered)
So tell me outsider; what’s your motive?! Why were you in Melodina in the first place?!

The rider grins, chuckling a bit. Gabriel sees a large shadow of someone standing over him with their arms raised. Gabriel looks over quickly.

POV – Gabriel – Rider#2 standing with the steel pipe in his hand as he swings it down on Gabriel screaming madly.

WIDEN on Gabriel as he lets go of the other rider to turn around quickly, but not quick enough as he gets hit in the right shoulder by the pipe.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s face (SV) as he arches his head back, gritting his teeth and grunting with pain.

WIDEN on Gabriel and the two riders as he forces himself to turn around completely, grabbing the rider with the pipe with his right hand and the rider behind him with his left.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s face as he pants tiredly. His eyes suddenly widen.

POV – Gabriel – over Rider#2’s shoulder

Aaliyah gets pinned down by 3 of the riders outside the bakery.

Gabriel (OS)
AALIYAH!!!

CLOSE ON Lucifer’s mouth.

Lucifer
(outraged)
ENOUGH OF THISSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

CLOSE ON MONTAGE of all 8 of the riders looking to the left.

WIDEN PAN up the street-

-FADE TO CLOSE ON of Lucifer perched on his Harley style motorcycle as the wind blows slowly.

Rider#3
It’s the boss!

All the riders rush out to the sidewalks quickly, standing to pay attention.

Lucifer rides in and stops his motorcycle in the middle of the battle scene. He gets off his motorcycle and holds his hand down to Aaliyah.

Aaliyah looks up, surprised and blinks, she slowly takes Lucifer’s hand and he helps her up.

Lucifer
You idiots! This is NOT why we came here!!!

Gabriel (OS)
So why DID you come here then?

Lucifer turns his head to the left.

Lucifer
And who might be asking?

POV – Lucifer – Gabriel walking out of the shadows of the bakery

Gabriel
My name’s Gabriel Kameato.

Lucifer grins, eyes narrowing a bit.

Lucifer
Descendent of the savior; Psyro Kameato?

Gabriel
Correct.

Lucifer closes his eyes and continues to grin.

WIDEN on Lucifer, as the riders all get on their motorcycles and ride over behind him in a triangular formation.

Lucifer
We’re the Enforcers. We’re a group who’ve made it our duty to make certain that the traditions of Kameatoism are left unbroken. My grandfather originally started this group and it was passed down to my father and then to me. These recruits are fresh and clearly failed to follow my orders.

CLOSE ON Gabriel’s face

Gabriel
You’re here about the Seal of All Sin aren’t you?

Lucifer
It’s about the time the Seal is normally passed down, so yes.

Gabriel shakes his head slowly, taking off his fighting gloves and putting them back in his pockets.

Gabriel
Well, you’ve got the wrong person. If you’re looking for the one next in line to guard the Seal of All Sin, you won’t find him in this city.

Lucifer
(questioningly)
Oh, really?

Gabriel
Really, but one thing though,

CLOSE ON (UV) Gabriel’s face.

If you ever do find that bastard, bring him here.

Gabriel holds up his right fist with a glaring expression.

I want to be first to get a piece of him…

CLOSE ON Lucifer’s face, grinning with his eyes closed.

Lucifer
Deal, and by the way-

WIDEN to all the riders and Lucifer as they rev their bikes up. Lucifer opens his eyes.

Name’s Lucifer.

They rev their bikes again and turn around, starting to drive off down the street then turning left at the first turn.

FADE TO:

Ext. outside Kameato family estate – night

PAN Gabriel and Aaliyah walking down the sidewalk together. Gabriel stops in front of the front gates to the estate.

Gabriel
Hold on Aaliyah.

Aaliyah stops and turns around to Gabriel.

Aaliyah
Hmm? What is it Gabe?

Gabriel looks up at the 8ft walls of the estate for a moment.

Gabriel
I think I’ll stay.

Aaliyah
Knew you’d reconsider. Any particular reason why?

Gabriel
According to that Lucifer guy there’s more of those “Enforcers”. If they give up on trying to find my worthless father, they might come after my family as a method to make me accept his responsibility.

Aaliyah
That’s true…so see ya’ tomorrow?

Gabriel nods.

Gabriel
Sure.

Gabriel and Aaliyah wave to each other but then Aaliyah quickly leaps at Gabriel and gives him a quick hug, then stands with her back facing him, blushing a bit.

Aaliyah
Thanks for everything you’ve done for me today. I owe ya’.

Gabriel turns to watch Aaliyah walk down the street (OS)

Gabriel
You’re welcome…

Gabriel turns to face the front gates of the estate again.

Int. Kameato house – living room

CLOSE ON Cyrus’s really angered and annoyed face.

Cyrus
(angered)
YOU ARE GROUNDED GABRIEL KAMEATO!!!

Mia stares off, tilting her head cutely.

POV – Cyrus – Gabriel standing at the stairwell, looking back at Cyrus

And gramps, just because I came back, does not mean I’m accepting dad’s responsibility.

Gabriel turns to his left and walks up the stairs (OS).

CLOSE ON Cyrus as he looks down and sighs.

CLOSE ON the same soup Derdekea was stirring earlier, now sitting half eaten in a bowl beside the sink.
